Pumping and irrigation in Benguela and Lobito

Water supply, industry and farming in a province where water has to be found, treated and moved a long way: pumping stations, borehole fields and irrigation systems.

Since 1968

The SILGAR name in pumping and irrigation.

Six leading brands

Caprari, Flygt, Lowara, Grundfos, KSB and Sulzer.

Hydraulic design

System curve, duty point and surge protection.

Commissioning support

On site or remote, agreed for each project.

What we supply

Stations engineered to the duty point

System curve, pump and motor selection, and redundancy. Several pumps in parallel follow demand and keep the station running while one is being serviced.

Borehole fields and submersible pumps

Submersible pumps and motors for deep boreholes, rising mains, cables and panels. From a single borehole to the borehole field of a town or a farm.

Surge and hydraulic protection

We assess the surge risk on long mains and specify protection: air valves, surge vessels and slow-closing non-return valves.

Head stations

Pumping, filtration, fertigation, valves and control in one engineered package. The head of the system is where irrigation gains or loses efficiency.

Filtration

Sand, disc, mesh and hydrocyclones, chosen for the water and the emitter. We work with LAMA, Azud, Amiad, Arkal and STF.

Automation and remote control

Controllers and farm-management platforms, so that a few people can run many sectors (Agrónic and VEGGA).

What shapes a project in Angola

Benguela province is coastal and arid. Water comes mainly from the Catumbela river and from boreholes, and near the coast it turns brackish. Lobito, with its port, concentrates industry and logistics, and the city of Benguela is growing at a pace that calls for new pumping stations. Irrigated farming exists in the Catumbela valley.

What we design for

  • Brackish water near the coast: resistant materials
  • Little rainfall: irrigation depends on the Catumbela river and boreholes
  • Corrosion in a marine setting: coatings and materials
  • Power: generator or hybrid solution

Typical applications

  • Supply to Benguela, Lobito and Catumbela
  • Industry and port logistics at Lobito
  • Irrigation in the Catumbela valley and the coastal strip
  • Boreholes in brackish-water zones near the coast

Brands we work with

We choose the brand for each duty — flow, head, water and climate — not the other way round.

Caprari

Borehole submersible pumps and high-flow pumps, of Italian origin.

Flygt

Submersible pumps and mixers for wastewater, drainage and process.

Lowara

Multistage pumps, pressure-boosting sets and submersible pumps.

Grundfos

Pumps with integrated drives, pressure-boosting sets and borehole pumps.

KSB

Large pumps for water, industry and supply.

Sulzer

High-flow pumps for water, wastewater and industry.

We also work with: Calpeda · DAB · Ebara · Pentax · Saer · Rovatti · LAMA · Azud · Amiad

The brands mentioned belong to their respective owners. NextGreen is not an official distributor of any of them: we supply equipment from several brands, chosen for each installation.

How a project runs

From first contact to commissioning, in five steps.

  1. Brief

Flow, head, water source and quality, available power and site conditions.

  2. Hydraulic design

System curve, pump selection and duty point, surge protection and control concept.

  3. Proposal

Datasheets, curves and an equipment list, ready for your designer and your client.

  4. Supply

Export packing and logistics. Delivery terms (Incoterms) are set out in the proposal.

  5. Commissioning and support

Start-up support, on site or remote, and a spare-parts plan.

Frequently asked questions

What size of project do you take on?

Stations with several pumps in parallel, variable speed and automatic control: from a town booster station to an irrigation scheme or an industrial water system. Send us the duty (flow and head) and we will tell you plainly whether we are the right supplier.

What do you need to prepare a proposal?

Flow and head (or the system curve), water source and quality, main length and diameter, available power, ambient temperature and project location. If a figure is missing, we help you estimate it.

What do you need to prepare a proposal?

Area and crop, water source and quality (an analysis, if there is one), available flow, elevation difference, available power, and a plan or location of the plots.

Which pump brands do you work with?

Mainly Caprari, Flygt, Lowara, Grundfos, KSB and Sulzer for the larger duties, and others for the smaller ones. We choose the brand for each duty. We are not an official distributor of any of them.
