Irrigation systems in Mozambique

From the source to the emitter: pumping, filtration, fertigation and control for farms and irrigation schemes, with hydraulic design and commissioning support.

Since 1968

The SILGAR name in pumping and irrigation.

Six leading brands

Caprari, Flygt, Lowara, Grundfos, KSB and Sulzer.

Hydraulic design

System curve, duty point and surge protection.

Commissioning support

On site or remote, agreed for each project.

What we supply

Head stations

Pumping, filtration, fertigation, valves and control in one engineered package. The head of the system is where irrigation gains or loses efficiency.

Pumping for pivots, hydrants and sectors

Variable-speed sets that hold pressure constant however many sectors are open and wherever the water level stands.

Filtration

Sand, disc, mesh and hydrocyclones, chosen for the water and the emitter. We work with LAMA, Azud, Amiad, Arkal and STF.

Field network

Polyethylene pipe and drippers, sized to the head station. We work with Caudal.

Automation and remote control

Controllers and farm-management platforms, so that a few people can run many sectors (Agrónic and VEGGA).

Valves, metering and protection

Hydraulic valves, flow meters and network protection, with Bermad, Dorot and Hidroconta.

What shapes a project in Mozambique

Mozambique is crossed by large rivers (Zambezi, Limpopo, Save) and is subject to floods, cyclones and drought. Pumping and irrigation projects must withstand that regime: river intakes with highly variable levels, stations that may flood, and limited power outside the main centres. Sugar cane, rice and commercial plantations, along with supply to cities and industry, are the main drivers.

What we design for

  • River intake with changing levels
  • Filtration for sediment-laden water
  • Large areas: pump energy efficiency
  • Floods: protection of the head station

Typical applications

  • Sugar cane and large plantations
  • Rice and river-valley schemes
  • Pivots and drip for commercial crops
  • Pumping from the Zambezi, the Limpopo and boreholes

Brands we work with

We choose the brand for each duty — flow, head, water and climate — not the other way round.

Caprari

Borehole submersible pumps and high-flow pumps, of Italian origin.

Flygt

Submersible pumps and mixers for wastewater, drainage and process.

Lowara

Multistage pumps, pressure-boosting sets and submersible pumps.

Grundfos

Pumps with integrated drives, pressure-boosting sets and borehole pumps.

KSB

Large pumps for water, industry and supply.

Sulzer

High-flow pumps for water, wastewater and industry.

We also work with: LAMA · Azud · Amiad · Arkal · STF · Caudal · Agrónic · Bermad · Dorot

The brands mentioned belong to their respective owners. NextGreen is not an official distributor of any of them: we supply equipment from several brands, chosen for each installation.

How a project runs

From first contact to commissioning, in five steps.

  1. Brief

Flow, head, water source and quality, available power and site conditions.

  2. Hydraulic design

System curve, pump selection and duty point, surge protection and control concept.

  3. Proposal

Datasheets, curves and an equipment list, ready for your designer and your client.

  4. Supply

Export packing and logistics. Delivery terms (Incoterms) are set out in the proposal.

  5. Commissioning and support

Start-up support, on site or remote, and a spare-parts plan.

Frequently asked questions

What areas can you serve?

From blocks of a few hectares to hundreds of hectares. In Portugal we installed, for example, the drip irrigation of 150 hectares of super-intensive olives. Tell us the area, the crop and the water available.

Do you supply the whole system or only the head station?

The head station — pumping, filtration, fertigation and control — is our core. We also supply pipe and drippers. Field installation is normally done by a local company, with our technical support.

Can the pumping sets run on solar power?

They can be sized for solar assistance or hybrid operation, with variable speed. It depends on power, irrigation hours and solar radiation; we assess each case.

What do you need to prepare a proposal?

Area and crop, water source and quality (an analysis, if there is one), available flow, elevation difference, available power, and a plan or location of the plots.

Which brands do you work with?

Caprari, Flygt, Lowara, Grundfos, KSB and Sulzer pumps; LAMA, Azud, Amiad, Arkal and STF filtration; Caudal pipe; Agrónic automation. We are not an official distributor of any of them.

Tell us what you need. We reply within one business day (Portugal time).

We keep your request to reply to it and, if we send a proposal, to follow it up with a few messages (you can cancel them from any one). We do not share your data with third parties. Privacy policy (Portuguese).
